Independent software by Mike Chiou

Tools for seeing, sensing, planning, and moving.

Logic & Light is a small software studio building focused products for photography, health, endurance, and reflection—product releases alongside non-commercial experiments.

Selected work

Five projects. Five distinct jobs.

Each project gets its own voice and home. Choose one to see what it is built to do.

Ultra HDR from SOOC JPEGs

Keep the film simulation. Add real HDR highlight data from the RAW.

01macOSProduct

ToneLatch

The JPEG keeps the look. HDR adds the light.

Turn camera JPEGs into real display HDR while preserving the look you already made in camera. ToneLatch uses the matched RAW only for highlight data, then exports a backward-compatible Ultra HDR JPEG.

About the studio

Small by design.

Some problems deserve a focused tool, not another platform. Each Logic & Light project starts with something I want to understand or use myself, then earns its own interface, language, and place in the world.

01Useful before impressive

Start with the real job and remove what gets in its way.

02Clear about uncertainty

Show what the data can say without pretending it says more.

03Personal, not disposable

Build software with enough care to keep using it.
