Logic & Light

Independent software projectsby Mike Chiou.

Logic & Light is Mike Chiou's portfolio of independent projects, including 4000 Weeks, RHz HRV Biofeedback, Vitality Arc, and ToneLatch. Each project keeps its own voice, destination, and pace while this homepage stays quiet and focused.

Selected work

Current projects with their own voices.

The common thread is not subject matter. It is the way the work is made: clear framing, distinct identities, and enough care that each project earns its own home instead of being buried inside a generic portfolio dump.

Finite time, visualized

Poster-like planning for seasons, milestones, and a finite number of weeks.

Current project

4000 Weeks

Live

A poster-like life-in-weeks planner that turns finite time into something editable and easier to act on. Reflective rather than productivity-first, with its own editorial voice.

  • Maps life in weeks, seasons, and milestones.
  • Keeps planning data in the browser and supports export workflows.
  • Now live as a standalone web app on its own subdomain.
Web appReflective planning

Guided breathing, external sensors, and local-first HRV sessions.

Current project

RHz HRV Biofeedback

Live

A precision-oriented Android HRV biofeedback app for resonance breathing training. More technical and sensor-driven than a generic breathing timer, with local-first data handling and a live Google Play release.

  • Built for Android with external heart rate monitor support.
  • Uses local-first data handling instead of cloud-first storage.
  • Now live on Google Play, with its own landing page, setup guide, and sensor-first workflow.

Healthspan / range explorer

Wearable-friendly inputs, uncertainty bands, and a time-scrubbable future healthspan view.

Current project

Vitality Arc

Public prototype

A healthspan and physical-capacity explorer built around noisy, real-world inputs. It turns fitness, strength, body composition, and wearable signals into future-facing lower, base, and upper trajectories instead of a single fake-precise answer.

  • Combines cardio and strength on an interactive timeline with age-based risk signals.
  • Works with consumer-friendly inputs like VO2 estimates, body composition, grip, deadlift, or dead-hang fallback.
  • Framed as a practical wellness outlook with uncertainty bands instead of a clinical-style prediction.

Ultra HDR from SOOC JPEGs

Keep the film simulation. Add real HDR highlight data from the RAW.

Current project

ToneLatch

Live

A macOS Ultra HDR JPEG app for Fujifilm X100 and Ricoh GR shooters who want to preserve their SOOC film simulation look while adding real HDR highlight data from the RAW file.

  • Preserves the camera-rendered JPEG as the displayed image — the RAW is only used for HDR gain map data.
  • Outputs standard Ultra HDR JPEGs with normal SDR fallback for non-HDR displays.
  • Built for photographers who shoot RAW+JPEG and care about film simulation rendering.
